Dragons Forgotten

What is the difference between Forgotten Realms and generic dungeons and dragons?
To elaborate a little on the previous answer.
In the generic D&D, the world is set up vaguely so you can easily create your own geography, The basic info is generic on purpose. The book is written to give a group a ‘tabula rasa’ so they can write their own history, or create their land’s current climate, both sociopolitical and regional.
The Forgotten Realms setting is a campaign setting. It’s history, and geographic area, are already done for you. You don’t have decide where the jungles are, or where the deserts are. You don’t have to figure out where the lands are.
The Realms has a rich history, colorful characters, and great exotic locations. All this is already prepared for you, instead of creating a land from scratch.
